Truck Tailgate Hardware question

Hey Guys,
I finally got my truck tailgate painted and I am just color sanding it now and will soon be ready to put it on. I was mocking up the hardware and it seems like there is an awful lot of slack at the trunion (The round piece the tailgate rotates on).

I measure the OD of the trunion at 1.53 inches and the ID of the corresponding location on the tailgate at 1.62 inches leaving almost 1/10th of an inch gap.

Should there be some kind of bushing or something that goes in there that I am missing? I looked on the LMC diagrams and I don't see anything. Is this just how it is? I don't want it to rattle needlessly if I can avoid it (one of the reasons I am getting rid of the blazer gate).

Thanks,
John

Well it depends on the years, some had a plastic bushing to make it quieter.
I have a couple if you want I can measure for you. They are all steel.

Yea, if it's not too much hassle a measurement would be great just so I know I'm not crazy. Any idea where to get the bushings?

well I can't find my tailgate, but my mounts are also 1.52"
And as for the bushings, I have no idea other than maybe NAPA or the stealership.

Cool, thanks for measuring that. Its probably just the way it is. If I can't find bushings I can wrap the trunion with some electrical tape for the time being until I can figure it out.
