truck tailgate question

I have searched an can't find it -- those of you that have swapped t-gates- what did you do about the torque rods? leave them or ditch them?

We put a pickup tailgate on my buddies K5 last week all we used were the hinges and the supports. No springs or anything. Went on perfect. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I have a P/U gate on mine and I ditched the stock rods and just use the P/U hinges/bottom supports. Works great.

I have read here before that some body did this and left them on - didnt know if it was a pain to re-install them if you went back to k5 gate later or something

with a truck tailgate being so much lighter you should'nt need it,

I removed the springs from mine. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
