Truckasaurus. The rebirth and resurrection of a fallen legend

Got the switch panel wired up and back in the truck. ran the wiring back to the bumper lights and hooked everything up to my battery jump box to see if I was good to go. So far so good! Next thing is to trace some of the damn wires out in the doors and figure what is what there.

It is so cool to be working on a clean truck and putting it back together with clean parts.

Really feeling stoked as I think the light is at the end of the tunnel. Hope to fire up the motor here in a week or two.

I love the rocker switch panel but is it hard to read on that angle?

Sometimes it is the little things. I just picked up some shift knobs from DIY4X. Love it.

They come with different inserts based on shifter. I also had Kurt cut them down slightly to fit with my dash to shifter placement.

Are you using the dimmer switch on the floor for your brights, or a different function?

Yea it is going to be for the high beams. Need to secure it better than it is right now.

Got my valve springs swapped over on the passenger side. Purchased the spring tool off a guy at ls1tech. Didn't need the cylinder compressor tool. It was easier to find tdc.

Got the core support back on. Cool to see it starting to return to a truck. Also got the steering all connected and filled. Have some air pockets to bleed out and the AN fitting at my cooler is leaking for some stupid reason, but nothing major. Feels good to start the slow road to driving it again.

Just received my DIY4X Wraptor and guardsman tonight. Stoked to get this on and get some beef around the leafs.

Been waiting on the vintage air to show up which it finally did last night. Hopefully get that in this weekend. I was able to get all the PS stuff in and stopped leaking. I also moved the axle forward about an inch.

That will help in three or more ways.

- stop the hydro ram from hitting the crossmember at full bump

- give my fenders more clearance where they need it

- improve my driveline angle hopefully a degree or two

- longer wheelbase and better approach angle.

Win win win

On top of that, it went amazingly smoothly. I was able to get the axle moved forward with help from my buddy in about 10 minutes. That never happens!!

Shackle angle isn't great, but not terrible and these springs are super flexy already.

Last but not least I am starting on the track bars and axle truss. This will require redoing my shock mounts and brake lines which is not the end of the world as I was never all that happy with them really.

Painted stuff up with my fav Chevy orange and got a little fancy on the diff cover.

Do you filter all your photos? The colors in all of them just really pop!

I don't filter them, but on all my pictures I try and edit the levels, contrast, saturation, etc etc. No one pic is the same so they all need something a little different.

I personally feel that if I am gonna take the time to post up a pic, then I should make it worth while. I personally hate when I go to look at something and the picture is out of focus, etc etc. Kinda feels like why bother.

Got a large amount of the vintage air install completed today and yesterday. Strange thing is some of the stuff is dialed and fits perfectly and some is a royal pain and needs to be redesigned. I was concerned about how the evaporator was going to fit as I have cut up my core support to fit my winch a lot. No issues there. It fit perfectly.

The condensor was another issue. It lined up fairly decently on the firewall but the bracket that bolted to it that mounted it to the firewall was another problem completely.

The lines that are supposed to come out of the unit would not fit without heavy modification to he bracket. This is just a minor thing but it took about 45 minutes of cutting and filing to get it to fit well. Just don't get it when the other parts are so well thought out.

Here is how the bracket was before mods.

You can see that there is no way the lines will thread in right now.

I also had to trim the bracket as it was putting unnecessary pressure on the pressure line. This seems unacceptable.

This is how much I had to cut the bracket to get the lines to be accessible.

Anyway. I got it in, had to pull the diy4x dash to get the unit in. This is a two man job. Someone holds it while someone threads in the spacers and bolts. I had removed my windshield that helped a lot.

I do love how much this cleans up the engine bay. I have been waiting on this kit as once I have it in I will know what I have to work with on the firewall for mounting pcm etc.

I also got the truss bolted up and welded to the 14bff. My welder isn't hot enough to get decent penetration so the welds came out looking like Ray Charles welded them with his feet. That will need to be fixed.

Just like everything else Kurt makes this was just bad ass stuff.

Still need to get the wrap bars on but...

Got the compressor, belt, idler, and most of the lines hooked up today. Pretty wild to think I could be firing this thing up in a few days.

I really do dig how much space has been freed up on the firewall. Still planning where the electronics will all go, but more than likely right next to the compressor lines.

Yes 52's. They are setup at about two thirds sag. I used ford towers and that was as tall as I could get the towers. Still gives me about 5 inches of dampening but a lot of down travel. The brake lines hit limits before the shock does. Well my limiting strap does actually but you know what I mean.
