Anyone using an air mattress for camping in their Burban? Looking for one that wraps around the wheel weels or covers it, if not then just fits! Thanks.

I use to use a full size futon in the back of our old suburban. Just buy a full size air mattress instead of the ones that contour around the wheel wells. Full size fits perfectly between the wheel wells (54"wide), I inflated a queen size in place, but it tends to start riding up the sides of the wheel wells anyway. This leaves you space for your boots/clothes to sit near your feet and flashlight/firearms near the top of the bed without having them on the mattress with you. Not to mention a regular air mattress is less than half the price!

My wife picked up a Double size thick piece of egg-crate foam from a futon supply store here in town. I must say, WOW is it comfy. I would say save some $$$ and just get the foam for camping. It rolls up to ohhhh like a 2 foot diameter circle as wide as it is, but it's so worth it.

The air mattress, well, I just don't dig them anymore. With as much as I use them for camping, there would always be a point where they started to go flat. In the middle of the night. Waking up to back pain. I'd rather sleep on the ground LOL!

I think my wife paid under $100 for the foam; seems expensive, but it's some quality stuff that's quite comfortable.
