Ahhhh...now you tell me. /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif

I try not to hold owning a Heep against them...they just don't know better and are too closed minded to try anything else. Their loss, my gain. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

I do have a line on a 78 or 79 F-250 Highboy with D60's front and rear for under a grand. It runs and moves under it's own power too. 400M boat anchor, NP435/NP 205 with 4.10's. I may pick it up and scavenge the HP D60 for my Jimmy.

Info like this I get from those same Heep owners... /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

So, how long until the pics Rene??? What did you do, mail them the roll? lol

The extra weight of the cage worked out after all on the 57's, it felt a little more top heavy than before with it in and not tied down, especially when cornering sharp but that went away once the cage was buttoned down since the body flex is more under control. The back end became even softer on the bumps. I suspect the 100lbs spare tire will bring a lot of that sway back with it in the bed. I think a sway bar with disconnects in the rear with those 57's would really tame a K5 under high lift and heavy loads and be extremely streetable. Right now its good but I wouldn't do donuts with it!

What were your plans for the back end of yours weight wise?

sound awful lot like the one Billa Vista was trying to take to Nova Scotia

I'm cheap...$3 for the pic's if I can wait a couple of days./forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I drove it to work today and the rear feels decidedly pre-runnerish (new word, just go with it...) It just soaks any bump up./forums/images/icons/cool.gif The Rancho's up front have to go now...I'm gonna follow Donovan's front spring recipe for those. Like an idiot I gave away my old front sway bar though so when the time comes I'll have to scrounge another and fab some links so it doesn't bind.

Weight wise on the back of my truck will be a family cage with an in the bed tire carrier, prolly a tube bumper of some sort...overall probably another 200-350 lbs as a rough guess.

I'd do donuts with mine...but my front Rancho's are the anti-sway right now so it wouldn't be a big deal. Oddly enough I got rid of a vibe/shake i had before at 70+ MPH. I had it up to 80 this morning on the freeway and it was really smooth. That was a nice change.

Anyways I'm sure I'll have pic's up by the weekend...

Re: tRusty is sitting on 57\'s now (Springs, not tires)

I'm not sure if it's the same truck or not...and I'm not about to say where the truck is. I do know it's for sale but not advertised and was primarily a 'camp truck' of some sort so the body is really bad. I have no idea how easy or tough it is to swap a Ford D60 under my truck though. I have a drivers side 241 that will bolt up to my NV4500 so that part is concievably taken care of. I'm just not sure on perch width and all the little details.

and what would that be?? I also have the ranchos up front and need them to be really soft. Not too worried about it right now though if I get this 60 (I'll know on the 9th) then I am planning on doing a lockable buggy spring up front.

Re: tRusty is sitting on 57\'s now (Springs, not tires)

What types of modification are required for this setup?

Re: tRusty is sitting on 57\'s now (Springs, not tires)

you have to somehow use drugs to prevent the Chevs immune system from attacking all those Heep parts.

why not jus have a set made at whatever rating you want

Re: tRusty is sitting on 57\'s now (Springs, not tires)

I would have some manufactured at a specified rate, but I can get most of the parts for this setup for free.

What fun would that be? When I tell people I built my truck I wanna really mean it/forums/images/icons/smile.gif There's a certain something about building a capable good riding truck from re-hashed boneyard left-overs...besides I'm cheap /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

Re: tRusty is sitting on 57\'s now (Springs, not tires)

Tim,

In a nutshell I had to perform a shackle flip, extend the shackle 1.5" longer than stock and move the entire rear spring hanger back 2.5". I also had to drill my perch to 5/8" so the larger ford center bolt would work with my 14 bolt. Aside from that it was as easy as any spring swap...cut every bolt, bloody 4 or 5 knuckles, teach the kids new words they shouldn't know yet and tick off all my neighbors with the endless grinding. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif /forums/images/icons/grin.gif /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif

The ride alone is reason enough for the swap... /forums/images/icons/cool.gif
