Well I'm no ball joint expert. I do have a Chiltons though and it says the lower nut should be 70 lbs not 80 and the upper 100 lbs. I hope that is all there is to your problem. That is the way I did mine and it was fine.
did you have to thread or unthread the adjusting sleeve on the upper one????? i was wondering if there is a "reset" position for when you replace them, or unscrew it to the top..
Well I don't imagine its right but I left mine the way it was. Told ya I wasn't an expert on ball joints!
I've put over 10,000 miles on mine since and the tires are wearing evenly on the front so something must be right. My Chiltons and my Haynes don't say too much about it.
I'm sure someone on this board knows!!! C'mon guys fess up.
