I originally posted a thread on here a couple months ago about buying my first K5...The K5 I have had my eye on for a while is still for sale. It's an 88 with a 4" lift and 33s...not too sure on the mileage or if the motor has been replaced/rebuilt but I drove it and it runs and drives well. Anyway, the used car dealership that it is at is VERY over priced. He tries to sell all of his trucks way above their value. He is asking $2,995 for the K5 but two months ago he told me he would sell for $2,000 and he wasn't willing to go below that. The K5 is in the back of the lot now and it's two months later so I figure that he'll be a little more lenient. I want to buy a K5 in my area and they are hard to find around here. I really like this one but I want to pay $1,500 max and it's probably worth less than that.

How can I go about talking this guy down and get my hands on this blazer?!

If its a Dealer ship good luck. The K5 is probably worth more than that unless it is all rusted out. How ever just keep asuring them of how interested you are and yet not desperate. 2grand is not bad. Always could try the 1500.00 in cash in your face method cash talks and walks. Just start counting it out and say this is what I'll give you for the vehicle as is. Any kind of warranty wont do you anygood anyway other wise you would never be on this site. haha we all know the fate of any K5 you find. Good Luck man

it's a dealership but I would barely call it that...one guy runs it and he's basically a private seller...there is rust but it's not terrible...I'll probably try offering him 1500 cash and see what comes out...I know a shop in town that will do a full run through of the truck for an hours labor but I just don't wanna waste 1500-2000 bucks on a piece of junk.

I went throught something like that in TEXAS when I bought well traded for mine. That guy went to Prison after that on fraud charges and that lil lot shut down, that was crazy! Ha Good Luck man I hope you get it. My advise make sure they sign the title to you.

First of all, walk in with $1200 cash in your pocket, no more, no less. Second, bring a good buddy, your dad, or your boss to do the dealing on price. Tell him to start at $1000, negociate to $1200... but when they press for more money you have to "leave to get more cash".

Come back 3 days later with $1100 in your pocket...

take some pics and we can better help you with whats its worth. plus ask some questions, find some things that are wrong with it and keep pointing out its flaws. if it has a 208 t-case tell him you really want a 203 so you will have to replace it, if its a 203 tell him you want a 208... so on and so on.

I'll try to get some pics up and I might try the $1,200...two months ago he was solid on 2 grand but it's worth a try. He is still advertising it on craigslist and in local auto guides. I'm not in a huge rush but I want to pick up a K5 at least by spring.

What ever you do, don't be in a rush. These things are all over the place and if you don't find one by spring I can set you up with a rust free one to fly in and drive back for under $1200 easily. You would just need a week to drive home across the country...

haven't made 15 posts can't post a link yet...wil post it as soon as i do

It looks clean but only two pics so it's hard to tell what it's like. If you have your mind set on this one I would pay for someone to give it a good look cuz that's ally of money.

yeah whether it's that one or another one i already have a mechanic that will do a full run through of the truck for me

that looks really clean... maybe to clean. depends on what you want to do. if you want to cut it up and do some custom $hit then maybe its to nice. but if you want a clean rig to take the little women out on then it looks like a nice one. take your time and do be to eager to spend.

the pictures aren't great...the body was redone a few years ago but theres around 177k on it...the odo read 77xxx so i'm assuming it's rolled over because the seller said there's well over 100k on it and couldn't tell me the exact mileage?

I really like the color and if you could get it for around $1800 I think it might be a decent deal provided everything works well. Just make an offer you are willing to live with and go for it.

What kind of "TLC" does it need? $2000 doesn't seem to bad at all. I paid over 4 for mine. Just remember it's only worth what you want to pay for it, and if your like most of us on here, you'll be "investing" much more than 2k into it. ;)

The truck market is really in the toilet.
If youre patient you can really get a good deal...
