Trying to Confirm Sending Unit

Looking at the LMC catalogue, it looks like there is only one option for a '76 Blazer with a 350 engine, 4wd and auto tranny.

'4 out'.

Can anyone confirm this? Or anyone have that combo with a '3 out'?

I'd like to order BEFORE dropping the tank.

As a side note, they divide the years 73 - 77, and 81 - 86 what do you do if you've got something inbetween? Or did they not offer that combo during those years? Seems unlikely.
 
Your decision is going to be based on your fuel pump and emissions present.

If you've got a fuel return line, there is one additional over the two "base" fittings. If you have an EVAP cannister, that adds two. That's your 4 out. This is really dependent on the year/GVWR/drivetrain/destination of the vehicle, which governed the emissions required. As examples, some trucks will have a fuel return line with no EVAP, or no EVAP or return line, or a return line with no EVAP, etc.
 
So you are saying get your lazy arse under the truck and look for yourself? :D

Just seems as though LMC has a grand scheme I thought maybe they were in the know.
 
I could look at their online catalog, but I'M being lazy. :) I'm surprised that the descriptions don't say something like "w/evap" and similar for those years.

Problem of course is that with this much age on the vehicles, PO's could have added or removed anything they wanted to. EVAP and fuel return line can be seen under the hood though, either your fuel pump has 2 or 3 lines coming from/to it, and the EVAP cannister is impossible to miss, I believe it is always on the drivers side, should have at least two vacuum lines/hoses running to it.
 
I notice that they too, only offer one choice for my combo, 4 out. Interesting.

Edit - they only list the 31 gal fuel tank. I'm pretty sure mine is the 25 gal.
 
What a pita. Measuring the tank while it's in the truck isn't the most exact science.

I'm pretty darned sure it's a 25 gal due to it's depth. But I've never been able to put 25 gallons into that tank. The width and length match accurately.

28 3/4" x 28 1/8" x 10 3/4 deep is 25 gallon 12 3/4" deep is 31 gallon.

It's not OE but surely it would have been replaced with a factory sized tank in order to use the sender right?
 
*To my knowledge* nobody has made some goofy sized tanks in regards to depth that will fit the K5.

You are right, you've got essentially two K5 senders based on the tank capacity (again, two tank depths) so it wouldn't make sense to make a deeper tank, ALTHOUGH you could always make a tank that had the same depth as say, the various saddle tanks. But that would certainly be odd and unlikely. But as we know with vehicles that have been around for awhile, anything is possible.

I'd like to get a picture of a 25 gallon tank in a truck, and a 31 (I can handle the 31 easily since I have it) so there is some visual clue for folks. I suspect the top half of the tanks are the same, the difference is in the lower half, it's probably just shorter than the 31 gallon tank lower half, as measured from the seam, so measurements would be nice, but since the tanks aren't perfectly square, measuring while on the vehicle is imprecise. Obviously the gap between the tank and skidplate is an obvious difference between the two, but if there is no skidplate, no quick way to tell.
 
Well this project is a few weeks away but I'll do what I can pics wise. And I DON'T have a skid plate. I'll try to reference static points.

As I said the most I've put into the tank is 20 gallons in the tank and that was running on fumes, so it's certainly it's not the larger!

Hopefully my logic pays off. I hate tearing into the truck just to have it sitting around waiting on parts.
