I'm pretty sure I want a big block at this point. You're making some good points and i think simplicity is gonna carry me. I asked my buddy to keep an eye out at his local junkyard and I'll do the same.
Watch craigslist and fb marketplace. Chances are pretty good you find a complete truck you can hear run.I'm pretty sure I want a big block at this point. Not for less than $1500 these daysWatch craigslist and fb marketplace. Chances are pretty good you find a complete truck you can hear run.
Also, not a chance I'll run it mostly stock on tbi. I'll build it and run aftermarket efi. I do appreciate the suggestion though.Yep, Vortec L29’s are good. Cam swap and ECM flash. Sell the small block stuff after you get it running to recoup the cost
L29s are not TBI. They are MPFI. BIG difference. Mine is stock cam and tune and pulls most pass's in 4th gear. {Manual trans}Also, not a chance I'll run it mostly stock on tbi.
Good to know. I'll try not to display my ignorance so quickly next time lolL29s are not TBI. They are MPFI. BIG difference. Mine is stock cam and tune and pulls most pass's in 4th gear. {Manual trans}
Not a bad idea. I think I'd like to keep one block and it's rotating assembly around because I don't intend for this to be the last GM car I tinker on and it's nice to be able to build a motor outside the vehicle while keeping a running engine in the bay. I might see what I have laying around that I can sell to fund the build though.I say sell the engine in it, sell the block you have, and do what everyone does... LS swap the world! Get a 6.0 and have a good engine and strong engine.
