Trying to decide on gear ratios.

A little late. 5.38s no question. The strength difference to 5.13s is nothing as pointed out above they have the same amount of teeth on the pinion.

Add up another vote for 5.38’s and as stated earlier don’t fret the pinion tooth ordeal between these two ratios on these axles.
Also mentioned earlier the ring gear tooth dimensions come into play as well but ya’ hardly ever hear folks mention that - they usually go straight for the “pinion tooth count” ( and it does merit concern in some applications ) because they read an article about it sometime in the past and can’t see past when it’s a point of concern or not - in this case go for the benefit of the ratio with confidence.

Mine is 37s with 5.38s (Dana 60 front, 14 bolt rear). 700r4. It is not as tight/short as I expected. Really drives great. Will do 65-70 no problem, tho that is a little faster than I generally want to drive it. I was concerned that 5.38 would be too much. It is not.
