Springs: I'm curious as to what the bottom leaf of my springs is? It's not curved like the rest, and it's much shorter. It's just a straight line sticking out of the front and rear of the spring pack, and it's the one closest to the spring perch. It also appears to taper from the middle to the ends, being the thickest in the center.

I can snap a pic if needed...

Brakes: It appears that my brake shoes are 2.75" wide in the rear. This is supposed to mean that I have 11 5/8" brakes, correct? Are these bigger brake "heavy duty" or something?

Gov-Loc: I SWEAR I thought that I had the Gov-Loc originally. I hadn't looked in the glove box since I checked it out back in '04. When the axle was dying, it was popping badly around turns. I was told it was the Gov-Loc taking a dump, but now I'm thinking it could've just been an open diff, as I don't have a G80 listed, just the GU4 (3.08) gears.

That last one was just me expressing confusion, LOL... Can anyone help me out on the first two though?

Thanks...

it's to keep your axle from running into the frame when you drop more weight in the bed than you're supposed to have. Also, it allows you to run a softer main spring for ride comfort, while still keeping your factory towing ability.
