Drove the k5 about 20 miles today pretty much its first road use on the these tires. Was going around 45-50 down paved roads, when I got home my tires look thrashed in some spots. Should I sell these things and get some tires with better road manners? I cant imagine what the highway will do to them...

Were they brand new?

I had a set of 36" SX's on a 76 K5 I used to own and IMHO they were better on the street then the regular tsl's I had replaced.

Looks like there hitting the fenders

Mine look just like that

They aren't brand new but they where hardly driven before I got them. I think your rite howdiy they probably got that way from the fenders. I've had to trim the fenders back 3 times now. The air pressure was also really low on all 4 although I've heard of running 20 psi purposely on these? Or should I run 45 like it says on the tire?

you dont need 45 psi.

my old 38 tsl only needed 25 psi on a 7k lb rig.

and thats not road driving doing that.

- I established it wasn't from the road, thanks guys. Must've rubbed in the yard.

the slices are prolly fender induced, but my sx's chunked out real bad. dont know if its the compound but ive never seen an interco (or any tire for that matter) chunk like a tsl sx.

I run TSL-SX's and they chunk/crack really bad. One of my tires has an entire lug that's about to fall off.
Also, 45psi is a ton of pressure. I run 20psi in mine on the street and single digit pressure off-road. The sidewall's are so stiff they don't need very much pressure to hold up, in fact iirc on my 35x15.5-15 the max pressure is 30psi or so.

I run SX's on my half ton ford. When you're rolling down the highway and it sounds like someone threw a brick under your fender, its a scary sound. It was just the lugs flying off though.
