Ok, I have 3/4ton axles and it looks like my leftside rear caliper is leaking. Never had a parking brake since I did conversion. Looking at TSM calipers w/prkng brake. Want something complete and new as I dnt have much free time and my son will b driving soon(yikes). Any feedback on TSM? I see they are out of Colorado figured I could get some input here.

They are still using the Cadillac calipers it looks like. Some have luck with them, many don't. The e-brake setup on them isn't as good as the later drum-in-hat style.

What axle do you have? 9.5 or 10.5?

Bummer. It's 10.5 out of a 77 and my Jimmy is a 91. What is this drum in hat style? Also are they other after market complete calipers folks try?

Drum in hat is the newer style of rear disks. Basically a mini-drum brake inside the rotor for the e-brake only, it doesn't use the calipers for the e-brake. GM used the Cadillac style, with varying degrees of changes, until the late 80's or early 90's on a variety of the cars (Camaro's among others), but all of those seem to have one sort of flaw or another.

This thread kind of muddies the water: https://ck5.com/forums/threads/late-model-14bff-with-factory-disc-brakes.232245/ It would take looking at the 10.5 rear disk parts to find out if they are interchangeable with the earlier axles, or if you'd have to swap the whole axle.

Interesting. So the potential flaws you speak of relate only the e-brake? If so I can deal with that so long as I can hook the cable up.
Also, thanks for all the great info.

The other flaw is cost. If you have to have an e-brake solely for inspection, it sucks to pay for the Cadillac one, since the front calipers can be used on the rear.
