Well...almost. I may be on the boards again before I leave on Saturday.
We're off to do the croissiere blanche at Orcierres, France, which translates to 'white trecking'. But with the current bizzare weather it may be mud trecking!
The whole rally takes place 3000m up in the French Alps. 4 days of wheeling in deep snow......but the forecast for next week is warm and wet, as it is over most of Europe which is a real drag as we've been wanting to do this trip for years. All the weather in Europe is screwed at the moment, even russia, Moscow should be minus 'freezing to death' and buried in snow yet it's like 4*c there at present.
I've done a LOT of work on the truck last year. New axles, whells/tires/beadlocks, crossover, rollcage,OBA,rock lights, spots, shackle flip/4" lift, rebuilt trans and motor etc etc. Unfortunately I destroyed my new motor just before christmas
so had a very busy few weeks pulling it and rebuilding it again. It's all in and running good now. My new EBL ecu system is working great too after a lot of datalogging and tuning.
I've packed (and secured very firmly) spare front and rear axle shaft, UJs, starter, alternator, serp belts, plugs, tools, coolant, oil.......and snow chains, survival gear etc. Spare fuel, hi-lift, chains, straps etc.
Anyone got any suggestions of other 'must have' spares?
We're going to be doing about 2000miles on and off road over 10 days. I'm really loking forward to it but a bit apprehensive too, I just hope we get some snow otherwise 200+ vehicles will soon turn the mountain sides into a muddy slide!
My wife's on camera duty so I should have a bunch of pics for you when we get back!
Tally Ho!
