Anyone doing it?
I am considering it just for ease of installation and the ability to adjust the tie rod in less than full turn increments.

I would like to see pics of how the tabs were welded onto the clamp. I am having trouble believing that the weld bead would not get in the way of the bolts.

Also, anyone know where I can get one for a 1.25" tie rod? All I have seen is 1.5" and bigger.

I run a tube clamp with my hydro assist and my buddy made it and can make them any size you want. Here is a pic of the clamp he made for me. I don't currently have any pics with the tabs welded on but the weld does not get in the way of the bolt holes.

Scott, what is that made out of?
And do you ever fear it slipping on the tie rod?

The reason I am questioning the weld bead position is that the tabs measure out to a distance of 1.25" outside when mounted to the heim. Couple that with a clamp made to fit a 1.25" tube.......would that work?

let me go take a pic for you of my clamp. I'll be back with a pic in a few minutes. I'll also give the you OD measurement of the clamp. Ok, the OD is 2.625" and it is 3.940" in length. The steering clamp has not moved yet. The ID is a couple thousanths smaller than the OD of the tie rod so it clamps real tight. The clamp is made of cold rolled steel IIRC.

Dis is mine :D

Its a piece of cold rolled.I bored it,drilled, tapped, and counterbored the screw holes, and then cut it in half to make it a clamp.

Its not that clean any more, but it aint moved yet :D

Oh yea,I gotta say "I stole part of my idea from Greg72" before he comes in here and says I stole his idea again :p:

If I had all the tooling to do that kind of machining, I would steal the idea also.
But I only have a drill, sawzall, grinder and welder......so I doubt it would work out that well for me.

Actually there wasnt any machining. You could easily make one with a drill press.Just have to find a band saw to push it through when yer done :D

McMaster Car shaft collars work just as well without all the work too :D

Just for a good comparison, what is the size of your tie rod.
