So I have been considering different lift options and am pretty sure on trying the tuff country hd 4 inch out front. I found the springs cheapest at summit but their published spring rates do not match the table in thetechnical section of ck5.

Summit hd 4 inch - 495 and their ezride says 325
Ck5 hd 4 inch - 395 and ezride says 295

Whose rates are right? Is summit trying to sell springs for a one ton to everybody?

I think Tuff Country just has the two different springs. It's been several years now, but when I bought my Tuff Country front 4" springs I was told the only difference is the HD versions have an extra leaf on the bottom of the pack. Basically, if you bought them and wanted the EZ ride version just remove the lower leaf.

Not very scientific, but the HD versions definitely seem to be softer than the Skyjacker Softrides they replaced.

My question was concerning which spring rate was correct. All the springs I am talking about are made by tuff country and I am wondering what the actual spring rates are.

If CK5s spring rates are correct where do you find those 4" 395 hd tuff country springs?

If Summits spring rates are correct then why get the hd spring from tuff country over other cheaper alternatives?

Because the HD Tuff Country is still softer than the Skyjacker Softrides? The point is,the springs rates are just numbers. The springs are all the same. And,100# on a full-size is nothing. If you need the absolute number why not contact Tuff Country and get 1st hand info?

I still want to know where the soft rides came into the conversation. I dont know where your finding the springs and rates for sale on ck5 either?? The parts area? Like stated go with the heavier one and pull a leaf if it isnt what you want. ORD says to use the hd's if you'll have a plow or real heavy front bumper/winch combo. other than that you want the EZ rides.

In the technical articles there is a table of spring rates. They do not match the rates for the same springs as listed for sale on summit racing.

Does anybody know what I am talking about? I am only talking about the tuff country springs and no other brands. I also like to put things together one time and have them work right as odd as that may seem. When I ge to a computer I can throw some links in, at the moment I am on my phone.

Call tuff country. also what are you putting them on? Why would the spring rate matter for your application?

Thanks, that info matches summit but not the ck5 technical article. I just noticed ck5 posted the info in 1999. Maybe it is outdated.
