I'm close to pulling the trigger on purchasing the suspension mods that has been recommended to me on this site (thanks!).

It seems that outside of this forum, Tuff Country Springs seems to have a bad rap. One vendor I have a relationship with (can get parts near cost) says that he wouldn't wish Tuff Country Springs on his worse enemy. Another vendor says they are cheap and will sag. The first vendor is not making much profit on me so I doubt his bias is based on just trying to sell me their products. I know that here, people seem to love them. I'm curious as to the difference in opinions. Outside of this forum, people seem to be swaying me towards superlift or skyjacker.

I'm not trying to start a war between brands or anything like that. I'll be spending a few bucks real soon and I just don't want to make a wrong purchase.

For those of you with Tuff Country, how does the quality seem? Have they sagged? Regret your purchase? etc.

Thanks again for your input

This is a bit of a double edged blade I think... the reason that many folks here like the TC springs is because they are, by a significant margin, the softest advertised spring rate on the market (outside of having custom springs built). This is great for a nice ride and wonderful articulation when in the rough stuff.

The flip side is that it may also lead to some sag. Keep in mind that there are two varieties of the TC springs too. The EZ ride springs are quite flexy, but not recommended if you're putting a lot of weight on them (like a big block, or a beefy front bumper, or a winch, or whatever). The TC Heavy Duty springs are a bit stiffer and just the ticket for 1 ton running gear and/or lots of accessories.

I love mine, but in the interest of full disclosure, I've only been running them about 9 months, so don't have any opinion on long-term sag yet.

Lots of people get tuff country (good) & rough country(bad) mixed up. I have ran superlift, rough country & skyjacker in the past & they all rode like a log wagon. Lots of peeps like the BDS springs too.

I am running stock 56"ers now.

In my experiences Tuff country ride nice and are very flexy. Any spring will sag over time. These are good springs IMO for daily driver/4wd buggy.

I also had some 4" Ranchos once...somewhat stiff but durable. I jumped the truck numerous times and the frame broke before the springs. Rather had the springs break..maybe thats where the TC would be a lot better.

I recently purchased Rough Country for my plow truck....I had Tuff country in it...and when I raised the plow it dropped a good 3" !!! NO GOOD for this application. I found a chart on this site somewhere and bought the springs with the highest load rate...Rough country. Will probably ride like crap but I bet it won't ride as bad as the farmer lift I had in there before consisting of 5 factory leafs a side.

I beleive I also had some Superlifts in a CJ5 once...but that like apples to oranges cause the CJ5 rode like crap from the factory.

Hope that helps.
