I am looking to order a lift kit for my 1978 GMC jimmy,Finally gonna get rid of the droopy, saggy ass springs.I am looking at buying a Tuff Country EZ-Ride 3" All spring lift for $578+45 shipping, and getting 4 pro comp es3000's w a steering stabilizer for $142.Or.... I could get a 4" Rough Country Luxury ride all spring lift w/ shocks and a raised steering arm included for $479 + $62 Shipping. Is there that much difference between the two lift kits as far as ride quality. What is the best route to take here. i am lookin' at buying these parts on ebay from Top gun Customs.Anyone delt with them before or know of any better deals? Also with the 3" kit I don't need a raised steering arm I take it? Just lookin' for a lil' input and I know U Guys are experienced and have helped out of many a jam.Thanx in advance :k5:

Don't know as I've never owned either. But the "Luxury Ride" springs from Rough Country are new, don't think anyone is running them yet.

Well Dam'n! Muddytazz you are right in my neck o' the woods. I live in Gresham, but I have family in Canby. So the luxury rides are New eh'. i am leaning towards the 3" Tuff country EZ ride springs.I have heard Rough counry= ROUGH and I don't want Rough.

Sweet deal neighbor lol swing by sometime if your ever out this way.

Anyways, 99% of the people here will tell you to get either TC's or BDS springs and I'd have to agree, but like said I've never owned anything but Rancho, but I also had a 5million pound suburban and they flexed like mad in it lol

I have 4" lift BDS springs on blazer, been pretty happy with the ride quality. the rear still sags with the all spring lift so i would suggest gettin the 1" zero rate springs from ORD.

i havent gotten them yet myself but plan on it very soon.... damn saggy ass

I was planning on adding the ORD 1" zero rates, front and rear? But I don't want a saggy butt! So even with Brand new 3" lift springs my butt will be saggy?

Im not much help here cuz im sure things have changed in 10 years.
Back then I bought a 4" tough country EZ ride lift for my 72 K5 and my friend went with the cheaper rough country 4" on a 75 K20. His rode better but 2 months into it the leafs in the packs started to break on the rough country lift. And mine didnt flex much at all, and rode like a dead-x wagon. Apperantly tough country has gotten better because they seam to be more popular and people dont complain about them being rough.

Balzer

Just my $0.02 but i got the BDS springs and never looked back. they ride great and they are well made. plus i didn pay anywhere near that price and i got 8" springs and 4" springs. think i spent $375-425 for the front and rear springs and bout another $150 for the shocks. can't remember how much the 4" shackle flip was, check ORD) oh i recommend getting a 1" zero rate for the rear to there cheap and then you have 3 options on where you want your rear axle.

As far as I know, the Rough Country's are the same that have been out forever.. And there is no comparison between the two.. Rough Country's ride like a dump truck, EZ rides have a quality ride.. just look at the springrates...

i'd go with a flip out back over a spring lift..

Opposite ends of the spectrum brother.....

ROUGH COUNTRY = STIFF AS A 17-YEAR OLD ON PROM NIGHT
TUFF COUNTRY = SOFT AND FLEXY.

Does that clear things up? :D

Welp, im going to have to disagree with some here. Ive got the 2" Spring and shock package from Rough country, the ride is actually nice. IMO, it is compariable to stock, maybe jus a tad stiffer. But not like a dump truck like others have experienced. I can hit speed bumps nad potholes and not be jar'd to death. So, dunno. Im happy with mine.

Might be because you have a 2" kit instead of 4"??

My truck came with a Rough Country 4" spring kit....those front springs were spec'ed at over 700Lbs/in. That's STIFF in anyone's book. Most springs that are considered "soft" are about half that value.

The 2" makes a dif, but I think more than anything, your prolly justifying it in your head.. Rough Country ride like cr@p, plain and simple.. Think those ride good? check out something with a decent spring rate...

Tuff Country it is. I just ordered up my Tuff Country 3" lift kit(springs front and rear) for $578+$45 shipping=$623 to my door. Now I just need shocks, the zero rates, and 33" tires. Thanks for all the input guys.I am sure the "Rough" Countrys are a decent spring for the price,But ya' get what ya' pay for.I figure it will cost me about 200-250 more to go with the tuff country springs, but a quality ride is a must.My Back takes enuff of a beating at work, I don't need my truck to beat me up to! lol Thanks again!:usaflag::k5:

That seems expensive to me, il have to check but i think i got my whole lift and shocks for less than that.

hmmm. i have a rough country 6" lift on my burb and all my friends have said nothing but nice things about the ride quality. sure they aren't flexy and such, but i feel that they have great road manners.
