So I saw an ad on craigslist today looking for people to enter a tuff truck competition and am thinking about doing it.
I was planning on sticking the suburban in the garage for most of the winter, rebuilding the engine, getting the interior up to par, fixing some rust, fixing some wiring, maybe axle upgrades as the time / $ budget allows....
The Tuff truck might give me more to work on, but I was planning a lot anyway...
What do you guys think??
The engine is pretty tired, the head gasket's going too, it may blow under hard use...
If I remember watching these as a kid the most common thing to fail was a radiator, after nosing into the ground, SO Im thinking about adding a strong front bumper / stinger.
My shocks are blown out, and one of the bushings on my front leaf springs is shot... I have a Tough Country 4" lift kit sitting in the garage, front springs ,rear blocks , shocks. I was gonna save this and get a shackle flip for the rear, and install it this winter as well.
Should I get some shocks from the junkyard, then fix that bushing, or install the lift kit, I'm thinking the lift would help a lot?
They also highly recommend at least a single hoop roll bar, anyone in the denver area have a tubing bender and want to help out?
Any advice from those that have done this?
I'm just planning on having a good time, I don't plan on winning anything with an overweight / underpowered truck but anything I could do to help it hold together...
