I'm looking at getting a Tuffy Stereo Console but I'm curious about the fit. Way back in the day I had a '75 K5 and bought the 12 1/2" wide stereo one which fit great, cupholders on the front and back and all. However, it seems like maybe these 1st generation K5's might not have the same amount of room. I have a '70K5 with the utility buckets and wanted to see if anyone has been able to fit the 12 1/2" Tuffy Stereo Console in their 1st gen before I shell out the big bucks on this thing. From what I can tell, it seems like a 10" wide one will fit but the transmission hump might get in the way of those cupholders up front...

Yeah I checked those drop downs and got that same result but when I look at those pics of the white 1st gen I see that his console is the one without the stereo compartment and it's pretty near flush so I guess maybe my fears are confirmed about overall length with the cup holders being an issues

Thanks for the post though, that most certainly answered my question. Now to find an old tape deck or something I can use as a decoy and to fill the unsightly hole left in the dash by the PO...

I have a Tuffy console with the stereo compartment. It used to fit with the cup holders until I put the doubler shifters in :doah:

When I bought my 72 Blazer many years ago, the PO had trail ready bucket seats and the tuffy sterio box center console installed in there. He did a hack job bolting everything thru the floor and tranny tunnel, but they all fit fine. even with the cup holders. Ill try to find some picks of the interior still installed in my rig. I have since gutted it and started the rust restoration project, so i cant get you any current pics of it set up.

Did you try the mounting holes on the back of the console?

I was inspired by the thread and just ordered and received mine, and hope to get it installed asap. I saw the holes in the back, but wasn't sure if the fit with the raised floor in the back.

I used the additional piece on the bottom to raise the console up enough to clear the tranny hump. When I installed the doubler shifters, I just took the cup holders out. Didn't really like them that much anyway. I think raised rear deck of the blazer will interfere with mounting the cup holders on back.

Yes, it fits but is tight between the stock seats.

I have the 12" in my 72. It fits but touches both seats. Put their cupholders front and back. Had to use spacers underneath to raise the console to make it work.
