I am having a hard time getting my pro flo system tuned right. I inherited this system when i got my new truck, so i am not too familiar with it. I have read all the manuals and tried calling the EDL folks, but they aren't very helpful so far.

The engine is a 454 60 over, i'm gonna have to look up the cam specs when i get home, compression is pry around 9:1 according to PO (runs on 87).

The PO had the global spark at like -16* so spark advance was around 20-22*, the EDL folks said that was too low and had me reset it to 0*. They said you don't really need to paly with the spark tables and to reset it to the base calibration (0* advance across the board), so i did that. now it runs around 34-37* advance.

At idle in park, i run rich, but at idle in drive i run lean (or vice versa if i make adjustments to suit idle/drive). Also at part throttle around 1-2K rpms and 14" or so of vacuum it runs really lean, and any adjustments I make to the fuel tables are not helping.

Is that too much spark? any idea on how to get my spark tables right? i can figure out the fuel i think, but spark has me lost.

thanks!

If the engine seems to run well as it is, no reason to mess with it(edit: "it" being timing, not the overall tune:)) IMO. Unfortunately I have no experience with that system, but the thoeries are the same...give the engine the timing it wants. Don't mask timing problems with fuel.

Sounds to me like the fuel pressure is cranked way up on injectors that are too small, which is why cranking the fuel pressure up without using a wideband O2 sensor is a bad idea.

Do you have it in closed loop?

What problems are you having?

Are you saving the adjustements as you go?

This is a good system, just need to fix everything the PO screwed up.

check the cam specs and compare to the chip thay have in it. then was the cam installed correctly or advanced / retarded with timming set. this will change stuff.

work has been hectic, haven't had much time to play with it this week. Closed loop is on, although i turn it off when making adjustments then turn it back on per the EDL folks.

It has three places to save it to, so i am saving mine in C, the PO's is in A, which i'm keeping around cause it did run with his setup and didn't blow up which is good :)

The engine sounded better when i got rid of the -17* global spark, but I don't like it running lean at part throttle...

I will try to look at it some more tonight.

thanks guys
