Hi All!

I read through the 1 thread from 2010 I could find about the subject, but it didn't quite answer my questions, so I am hoping you fine folks can help!

1. How do you replace the seal?
2. Does the tranny have to come out?
3. Anyone have a shop replace theirs?
4. What's a fair labor cost to have shop do it? (I figure it shouldn't be more than $50 in parts)

Or option 2; leave it together and just Clean then RTV to seal up temporarily/permanent...

Oh, and if your interested; I made a Poll....

Thank you!

1. Remove the snap ring that holds the cover in place while depressing the cover against spring tension. Remove cover and put new o-ring on cover. Grease oring, install cover and depress into trans cavity with a prying device being careful not to cock the cover. Install snap ring, fire it up and check for leaks.
2. No
3. Kinda
4. Parts are about $1.00, labor can be up to an hour

Your second option will not work and will only make the first option more difficult when you have to peal off all the sealant to do the job right.

Thanks Greg!

So for anyone who has similar questions and finds this post in the future, I had a shop do it today; they did a couple things for me on top of fixing this leak (new vacuum hose, oil and filter), but I was out of there for around $200, I though it was fair, another place said they would do it for $500 ~ I don't think they wanted to do it...
