if anyone can provide me with info it would be greatly appreciated, currently i have a 1980 chevy with 454, burned up turbo 350 and np205 transfer case, what are all the parts i would need to get a turbo 400 to work with the 205 and what problems could i possibly encounter with this swap?

If your talking about using the NP205 from the TH350 I think you'll have to change the input shaft to a female. Which requires case machining for a new bearing and you'll need the right adaptor to mate the two. ORD sells the new shafts and bearings for $200 I believe.

yes i plan on using the 205 tc from the turbo 350 i smoked, so i would have to have the transfer case machined to accept a different bearing, change the input shaft on the 205 to a female type and get the right adapter to mate the two together correct?

Maybe just get a 205 that was designed for a TH400 to start. Some salvage yards will trade, and if not, may still be cheaper to buy one than adapting yours /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

**also, when I swapped in the TH400/NP205 in place of the TH350/NP205, I had to use the shifter that came with the TH400 set up due to a different bend in the shifter because of different adapter I think.**

The 32 spline input conversion can be done without machining the case. There is a bearing that has the correct inner and outer dimensions to fit your case without any mods.

All you need to do is get the part number for the TH400 version bearing, take that along with your old bearing to a local industrial bearing place (like Motion Industries, etc) and have them find the bearing based on the dimensions from the info you brought. I have seen this done a few times with complete success, one of which is Ratzila who has an unmodified 4spd type 205 case with a 32 spline input shaft using this bearing.

Also, the TH400 tranny you need will have a tailshaft that sticks out of the rear of the case 4 1/2" (there are multiple TH400 tailshafts).
