Has anyone ever tried to use a turkey baster in the shop. I just read about it on another site. It has many uses such as removing fluid from master cylinder, removing paint from those small cans, etc.

We used to use one at the motorcycle shop I used to run, worked great for sucking out master cylinders and even coolant on 2 stroke heads. The brake fluid would destroy them after a while but they were cheap enough to replace.

First used one to suck out brake fluid out of a master cylinder 25 years ago. I have robbed several from the kitchen over the years from my mom when I was a teen. Now, since I have taken a couple from my woman she gets pissed every time she see's me come in from the garage and rummage thru the kitchen drawers :D. I made a thread a long time ago here about what items you have taked from the kitchen, will see if I can find it.

I use the big ones that you can get at auto parts stores, they call them battery fillers, I think.

Yup, use one for brake fluid in the master cylinder, but yeah, the bulb wears out from abuse and chemicals.

If the "battery filler" variety has rubber that lasts longer than the kitchen ones from Wal-Mart, it might be worth the $4 instead of $2. :haha:

it still swells, but i put a zip tie around the rubber where it goes on the plastic, and it will last awhile that way.

Random fact of the day. Outside of the obvious uses - they can be used for at home, artificial insemination. A couple of women life partners in my wife's circle of friends used one and 'very close' male friend/donor to have a kid. I thought they were screwing with me until I went home and googled it. Thanksgiving dinner hasn't been the same for me since.

wouldn't it be easier to just sleep with the guy?

But interesting fact.......

Wonder how it would work to fill the diffs and tranny? Take awhile I suspect, but cleaner perhaps?

LOL. I guess it says something about where I live (outside San Francisco) that I knew this -- we call 'em "turkey baster babies", when they have two moms.

It is not uncommon, I gather, to use a gay friend as the sperm donor, so neither party would have any interest in the, umm, more traditional method. :doah:

it takes forever to fill with a gear oil hand pump, i would never try to use a baster. :eek1:

Get the $10 pump from kragen for this purpose and be done!

I forgot, i used to use a baster with a tube on it to suck the water out of my RC boats in my teens.... :)

Good one, seems like the bottle always hits something before you can get it high enough to empty it....
