i turned on the headlamps when leaving work the other day and noticed that the right turn signal indicator was on. so i turned the signl on and the light got brighter, and operated properly. all the outside lights work as designed.
so im thinking that the circuit board on the cluster is letting power bleed over from another circuit. does this sound right? thats the only thing i can think of.

Make sure you dont have a bulb out on that side. IIRC if you have one out it will glow. Might be wrong though.

Could be the circuit board, but its almost always a bad ground at the socket.

The parking/tail light filament shares the ground with the turn signal. When you turn on the headlights, the power goes to those filaments, through them, to ground.

If you lose the ground on that socket, then the voltage feeds back through the turn-signal filament looking for ground and finds it through the indicator bulbs in the dash.

Often you can find it by turning on the parking lights, and comparing left and right brightness levels.
The dim one, front or rear, is the one with the bad ground.

Had it happen a couple times, mostly bad grounds but I had a bad flasher that caused that too

my pickup does this too from time to time. left blinker slowly starts to glow green, then randomly stops. adds charactor.

you have seem my truck. it has character.
i havent had time to look at it. im driving a customers car for my dd. i did notice that the rf side marker lamp is dim compared to the left. so i will check that out next week when i get the truck back.

yes, but its a one ton cc so you are allowed extra charactor points...

Sometimes a bulb will have one filament burn out and lean over and touch the other ,causes all kinds of weird feedback problems...
