EDIT: i tore into the column, sunday and found that besides being a little dirty after 14 years, the switch is fine. the problem is the little lever that connects the switch to the handle. it snapped right in half and none of the parts stores i've tried (autozone, o'reilly, napa) have it. i guess i'll have to rip one out in a junkyard or something.

this is for my 94 c1500, but iirc, the last fews years of k5s had the same column. i was making a left turn last night, and when i pushed down on my turn signal lever, it gave just a bit or resistance, then i heard a snapping sound in the column and the lever dropped. now it just flops around and won't operate the signals at all.

most logical conclusion is that i busted the switch. any other thoughts before i drop $30-40 for the part, and get two loan-a-tools; one to pull the wheel, one to depress the spring inside and remove the retaining clip?

if it takes me a 6-pack to get through something this straight-forward, i'm slipping. i'm sure some goofy little part will fall where i can't reach it though. that's always drives me crazy.
