Just replaced the little plastic turn signal cam inside the steering column in my 72 GMC as the old one cracked. Blinkers were working fine, but every time I turned left the horn was honking for a couple days. :haha:

Anyway, thought I did a pretty good job and took my time, checked to make sure all the lights were blinking like they were supposed to before I put the steering wheel back on. But after I put the wheel on, my driver side, rear turn signal and brake light's not working. Front signal is flashing fine and tail light works fine.

Tried 2 new bulbs and also checked the little relay on the fuse panel, all ok. Don't have a test light or meter with me, nor all day to spend dicking with it. I'd think the socket would be the next logical place, it just seems an odd coincidence that it quit after I fixed the broken cam in the steering column.

Any ideas?

Socket is in good shape and I've got a good ground back there. Thinking now maybe I need to replace the whole switch in the column. Contact points look fine though, especially after I cleaned them up a little. :dunno:

to update this for anybody that might have the problem in the future. I got a complete turn signal switch harness from Napa and installed it over the weekend. (much easier on a 1st gen then a 2nd gen I might add.) Still no rear driver blinker or taillight. Only thing left is the wiring to check. Turn the blinker switch on, crawl under the tail and start cleaning wires to find the yellow one, and the blinker comes on. Looks like the crimped splce where the a po spliced in the trailer lights wasn't making a good connection. Should've started with the wiring and saved myself $50. :doah:
