How hard should it be to turn over a 6.5 block with the glow plugs out? I went out to start checking over the one that's supposed to go into my crew cab, pulled the glow plugs so no compression, and had to brace the block and use a 3-foot bar across two bolts into the pressure plate holes in the flywheel to make it turn. Even then I just barely got it turning, maybe 10 degrees rotation, then gave it up 'cause I didn't want to break anything else if something was wrong.

Good news is the donor truck/engine had a BRAND SPANKING NEW flywheel and 12" LUK clutch in it, so that's taken care of for my swap.

The turbo is in excellent shape, and worst case I can do an upper end swap to my 6.2.

Shouldn't be that hard. How long has it been sitting? Pull the injectors and hose some WD-40 in there to help.

The engine is out & on a stand? Are all the fan belts disconnected?

The entire accessory bracket setup is off, as well as the water pump and IP and intake manifold.

It's been sitting outside for a while, but it has been covered and there is oil in the crankcase. Hmmm--any chance that too much oil in the pan could cause an issue?

I didn't really want to pull the heads . . .

I was not able to turn my 6.2L over by turning the flywheel by hand until I pulled the glowplugs, then it was not really any harder than a 350

Tell me where you get the best price -- I need a set for my 6.2L, along with a girdle kit and a fluid damper, lol

are the 6.2 and 6.5 head studs the same thing? ARP only lists the 6.2 and doesn't say anything about them working for a 6.5. Makes sense that they'd be the same, just want to make sure . . . .
