Turns out I have another K5, and didn't even know it.

Well, I used to live down in southern TN when I was little, and I was looking through my box of titles, and found a 75 K5 still in my late fathers name, so I looked through his little book of Blazer's, (he listed every truck he owned) and besides my 86 Custom deluxe, there was one that he hadn't got rid of.

Now, heres what really got me, it was a 75, 400, 3-on-the-tree, 2wd. Now I have never seen another one like it, and I looked at google earth, and sure enough I can make out a truck under the trees next to the garage. but I can't really afford to get my 17 year old self down to Tennessee to get it, we still own the property, but my mother wants the property sold, and the K5, and the little K car too. (theres still a K car down there too.)

What do I do?
 
Well, if you have hung out on this place very long, you should realize that there are guys on here that know more about K5s and their value than GM ever did.

I'm going to go out on a limb and bet that there is someone close by enough to check it out for you and will chime in pretty soon.

Let one of them go look, PM them the address, and find out what kind of shape its in, and if its worth fooling with.
If it is, then either sell it to one of them, or find someone who can store it for you until you can get the scratch to go look at it.

I'm in Fl., or I would ride by. Of course, I am about the last person you want evaluating a GM product..........

Just hang on, I suspect you will find out what you have started..........

Well I know its a manual, on the column. but I'm not sure if it was a 400SBC or not.

Where in TN and what time frame are you looking at. I will be moving back to TN in mid June time frame, from NC. But will also be going back mid May to give notice to my renters and to do an inspection on the property. Basically, by July, I will be driving through TN from the East to mid state or from South to North depending on which route I take.
 
The 2wd blazers are kinda rare. With a three on the tree and sb 400 that would make for a unique K5. guys over on 67to72chevytrucks.com would be all over that.
 
Well, got some shatty news, I asked mother, and it turns out we have sold the property, yesterday.

And, apperently we still had alot of other stuff in the garage, two complete SBC's, one Big block, two big toolboxes, full of my dads tools.

And we got some pictures of the green blazer too, I can't figure out how to get them here though.

Fairly good size trees have grown up on all four sides of the truck, like atleast 6 or 7 inches round.

It was a 400SBC, but it isnt there anymore, a tree fell across the hood, the tailgate has been down, and it is ruined, the interior is perfect, execpt for the rear seat, where something has been living. Still has old whitewall snow tires on the rear end too. The plate said it was last on the road in 98. And it being a 75, is a full convertible, And that full convertible top is perfect. I would love to convert my 86 to a full vert.

What my mom wants to do is mail the guy the title, and tell him to do what he wants with it, but I want to keep the truck, what do I do?

Hell, I'd take that 396 that is down there already and throw that in it, that would be a hell of a thing, BBC 2wd K5.

I would call the new owners, and explain the whole situation to them. It seems like your dad has passed? If so, I am deeply sorry for your loss. Explain to them that the things belonged to your dad, and you would really like to have them.
 
I go down with a uhaul truck and fill it with your dads stuff. and tow the truck back to your house. I lost a lot of good stuff of my dads too when he left Alaska. His so called friends stole his stuff and wrecked his 71 gmc jimmy. Hope you can get that stuff back. Get ahold of the new owners and hopefully they will let you pick through the stuff and get what you want.
 
I was at Uhaul yesterday and they said their dual axle car hauler can hold up to 7500lbs. Now the counter guy may have been mistaken and that includes the trailer, but that's certainly enough for a K5 with no engine. You can pull the car hauler with a U-haul truck, which would carry whatever else they will let go. The new owners may not give up the tools, but they might be more than happy to get rid of a non-running vehicle. Find a CK5 member who is local to that area to help you cut some trees and load that K5. Borrow some money from somebody.

You can easily find a replacement engine, hood, fenders, etc. as time allows later.

EDIT: Maybe a K5 can go on a car dolly or flat tow, but without knowing the condition of wheel bearings, axle lube, etc, you probably want to have time to go through that stuff first (and pull the drive shaft) or stick with the trailer plan.
 
What part of southern TN? I'm in north AL, but frequently work in southern middle TN (Pulaski, Lawrenceburg, Waynesboro, etc.). Would be glad to take a look for you if its close by.
 
Well it has a Fayetteville address, Around the Pulaski, Franklin area.

But, I don't know what use it would be, I cant get ahold of the owner, and, Like ive said before, I'm only 17, and my Mother is not on board with the idea of bringing it up here.
 
Dude, that sucks.

I know when I was 17, I had big plans for my cars, but in hindsight I realize that I didn't have the a$$ets to see them to completion the way I wanted.

HOWEVER, I would pursue the tools and garage bits some more if possible. I have a 6 foot toolbox full of tools, but my most prized ones are in a small old metal toolbox that was my grandfathers, then my dad's, then mine. When I use them, I feel pretty connected to them knowing that at some point, they were my age, doing probably the same things with the same tools.

To me, those tools are the best heirlooms I could have gotten. I hope you're able to salvage something from the property. Good luck.
