TV cable question.

Well for me it was a snapped crank.... shifted so hard it would chirp 35's with no throttle going into second and eventually it ate the crank.

What is it doing?

it is regarding the k10 in my signature. with light throttle the trans will hit 1-2 and 2-3 fine, but with moderate to heavy throttle 1-2 and 2-3 are a little slow. it doesn't chirp the tires (30s) or really even shift hard, but the shift is noticeably slower than my suburban. transmission never slips, and aside from the slow shifts when under power, it runs great.

the K10 was sitting for a long time before my friend bought it. the trans fluid was dark but definitely not burnt, we changed the fluid today hoping it would help the shifting. the motor is carbed and has the original rochester carb from the '72 donor vehicle.

thanks for the info on TV cables. i have been looking around on google for info about the flare between 2-3 on the K10. i found this on the B&M website.

This servo is designed to provide increased hydraulic apply area to improve the capacity of the 2-4 servo. By increasing the apply area the transmission will shift firmer into 2nd and 4th gear and will also eliminate a 2-3 shift flare that plague older 700R4 transmissions. This is a must for true high performance use.

i am thinking that the 2-4 servo may be causing the problem. any thoughts on that?

Not a tranny expert but I always thought there was one shift servo. Also I remember there is a certain amount of "bad years" of 700r4's that came out. After a certain year they got better but I have no idea what year that was.... I'm sure more experiecned members can shed some light here.

Either way, the first thing I would do is set the tv cable to one of those site's specs... if it's still acting up then you have a problem with the tranny itself.
