i have a 465/205 combo from a parts k5 that im putting in my 87 k5. im really interested in getting a twin stick setup, but i had a question. i know it allows you to have the rear in low, neutral, or high in 2 or 4 wheel drive, but can you do the same for the front? like can you let the rear axle in neutral and have the front in low or high, so the front is taking all the power and actually pulling the truck? i dont know why you would need it like that, but it was just a thought and i cant find an answer :doah::D

Gotta hyjack everytime someone talks about swapping in a 465/205 combo. I did it and LOVE IT. Everyone else can have there slush box! Long live the 465!!!

I agree. I couldn't be more happier...unless i had the hydro conversion :D

The peeps I know have used the front only at times and lock the rear brakes the crab walk it one way or the other. Haven't thought I needed it yet, but the t-case is out...

i love manuals in general. its goina be such a difference goin from a 700Rpoop/208 to a 465/205. im lookin for a hydraulic kit for mine, its not worth it to me to do all the work and still have a manual linkage :doah:. but im hoping between the granny gear, 205 case, and 1 tons with 4.56's, i should be able to pull or go through anything :D

i like my mech. rod, you can ''feel'' clutch, hydro is like a barrier between you and the clutch!

plus i've seen several hydro bellhousings, busted...crack all the way around it, aluminum junk,imo...never seen a steel hydro bellhousing, is there such a thing?

Not sure but probably not. I understand liking to "feel" the clutch cause i like that about it also. Just throwing out the pros and cons....well i guess i just threw out the cons but you know what i mean.

I think either way you go there are gonna be skeptics but i have mechanical now and until i gather up some money i'll be stayin with it

Might be a dumn question about hydros, but since they are fluid dependent if the engine dies do you still have the clutch? Anyway I DO like have direct feel with the clutch, I DONT like having a left leg stair master. 700R4/208's still suck either way IMO

One stick is for the front and the other for the rear

it would be something like this

front 2h 2h rear
4h 4h
n n
4l 4l

Hydro clutches aren't power assisted like the brakes, so they perform the same whether the truck is running or not.

Hydraulic clutches and brakes have plenty of feedback, ever felt warped brake rotors through the brake pedal?

is there anything that prevents you from putting one axle in high and one in low at the same time?

You have to modify the shift rails to allow an NP205 to have twin stick capability.

If you modify the rails correctly its impossible to have the front in low and rear in high (or vice versa).
