Hi all.
I've been watching for an np203 twin stick and not able to find one for over a year now.. ORD has no eta. If i bought one for a 205, how much modifications might it need to mate the 203 ?

I would think that it would take some decent fabrication.
I know that it probably isn't impossible though.
I am basing this comment off of the fact that the original mounting is different between the two.

The factory 203 shifter sucks if it isn't clean and lubricated.

Ya, I've noticed that, and that's one reason I'm wanting to swap to twin. The other is that after a 700r4 swap, the linkage isn't right, so I'd rather use cable shift.
I've cleaned and lubed the TC & shifter, and it's still difficult to shift... I'd upgrade the TC, but just paid a ridiculous sum to retube both shafts

Plenty of cable shifters out there but they’re pricey.

Curious - if did 700r4 swap, why didnt you ditch the 203? Swap to a 208/241 would be easy since was factory combo and much better low range ratio. Or do a 205 if you feel necessary
I tried. Couldn't find a pass drop 208 :( but haven't given up on that plan, got my ear to the wall...
Ya, those cable shift units are a bit much for MY finances.

Really? The 208’s should be flooding the streets everywhere.

Somebody get him a 208! That will solve all of his problems (minus driveshafts, but even those should be able to be sourced second hand, if you dont want to have any made). Sorry you just had then re-done. Im sure you could sell them, someone will have a combo that it will work for

I don't come across them very often anymore. Ten years ago, I had 3 or 4 of them with no truck to use them in. I sold them pretty cheap.
I saw one listed on FB a couple of months ago.

Oddly, it seems (somebody correct me if I'm wrong) that the majority of the 208 were drivers drop, and the pass drop are getting grabbed up fast.
I'd guess that with a 208, i could use oem driveshafts from an 84-92? K5 ?

Majority of NP241 cases were driver drop.
'89-'91 Blazer and Suburban were the factory installation.
NP208s were passenger drop.

I just picked up a T350/NP208 for an upcoming project.

Thats exactly what i was thinking about. Time flies. I remember I couldnt offload a decent 208 for $50, think i may have ended up scrapping. That was 10-15yrs ago. Still would think they would be showing up in junk yards more and more. They SHOULD be cheap. But so should a rusted out squarebody…not always the case these days

I have few np208 T-cases

You should be able to use driveline from 83-91 (believe 700r4/208 started in ‘83?) automatic k5’s; 208 and 241 were same or very similar in dimension, and the driveline should interchange

Knowing what truck to target and actually finding one in the junkyard or being parted is the problem. They just aren't sitting in the wrecking yards anymore.

Aaah, i got bad information :( thank you for that ! I'll start searching for these parts

There was a guy in western colo "Pete" that had a square body salvege (what a find !) he retired and sold everything to some guy in wyo, but sadly, I don't have his contact info.

I have 3 NP208s, I grab them anytime I see them because they aren't as common as they used to be.

I will text a guy who worked with Pete and see if he has any help.
I don't want to bug Pete himself in retirement.
