I have a 91 k5 and I'm tracking down wiring for an LS swap. My question is, there is an engine coolant sensor on top of the engine that has a two wire plug in and there is also a sensor on the side of the block that has a single wire plug in. Do these do two separate things or what?

Top is a sensor for the computer, side is a sending unit for your gage

Just asking but what's it mater if you are doing an LS swap? Or is this for the gauges only? Chassis vs engine harness? If you can swing the funds, these VHX guages from DD are pretty awesome.

Just to clarify, a sensor is something the ECM/PCM uses...TPS, Knock, O2, CTS (Coolant Temp Sensor). A sender works with a gauge to provide a reading...fuel sender, oil pressure sender, temp sender. If you get these mixed up, or don't know the difference, when/if you have to buy a replacement, it is very common for parts store people to sell you the wrong thing.
