Hey Everyone

I need to buy some larger sockets to do some front end work. My truck is an '89. Are the bolts & nuts on these metric, standard, or both?

When I did the balljoints on my '78 8 lug 10b front end some were metric some were standard. :dunno:
I went and bought 1 metric socket but was able to do everything else with the standard stuff I had.

prolly both!:haha: Not laughin at you dude, it just amazes me when I work on my truck how many times I uses metric

I just checked in the garage and the only metric socket I had to buy was a 33mm and it's actually labeled "axle nut". This is a cheap one from Auto Zone but it got the trick done.

I sold that truck a few years ago, but if I remember correctly, all the nuts and bolts were standard except for the upper ball joint nut, it want to say. 33mm sounds right.

YES any 89' will be both Metric & standard. I have two 89's.

What they said. Starting in the late 70's GM had metric fasteners. As time went on the metric got more common and by '89 it was very common in the truck. I had a '92 Blazer K1500 and it was about half and half between the two standards.
