Re: u bolt and spring plate q\'s

3 3/8" for the 14 bolt, not 3 1/2". 8" or so long for a regular spring pack plus whatever is required for blocks if you have them.

Front D60 will use two 5/8" studs and nuts, two 3 1/4" by 8-9" u bolts and one 4" by 10".

Use 5/8" stock to have them made.

sweet you guys are awsome /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gifthanks thah helps alot
for the studs can they be grade 8 bolts or do they have to be studs

now to make some plates /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

Re: u bolt and spring plate q\'s

I used grade 8 bolts, but most people prefer studs.

I'm going to replace them with studs as soon as I can find an economical source for them.

Bolts/studs will have to be 3" long or so for springs, mine are 4" because of the zero rates.

sorry, i meant u bolt diameter was 3.5".

Re: u bolt and spring plate q\'s

The correct u bolt diameter is not 3.5. It is 3 3/8". You can probably push the 3 1/2" ones close enough together to get them to go into the spring plate, but the correct size is 3 3/8" to fit the way it is supposed to.

Re: u bolt and spring plate q\'s

I looked at the sticker on the u-bolts that a local 4x4 shop here gave me and it says 3 5/8" /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif They don't appear to fit very tight around the axle housing, 3 3/8" would have worked better, but they were still easy to get into the spring plates.

Re: u bolt and spring plate q\'s

A 5/8" wrench will fit on a bolt with a 9/16" head too, that doesn't mean that it will work correctly.

3 3/8" is the correct size.

wow thats funny, the oem bolts i had taken off were, hmm, 3.5, i guess chevy got it wrong then also. along with the lift kit company, and the local spring shop.

Re: u bolt and spring plate q\'s

I guess the lift kit manufacturers send you the wrong size u bolts with their kits and I can't read a measuring tape.

Either way, like I said, 3 1/2" is close enough.

I know mine are wrong, they don't stay close to the tubes, they only touch on the bottom. It makes me /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif that they charged me $45.00 for the wrong stuff.
