Hey Im ready to finish up the rear springs on my K30. Just wondering is a U bolt filp worth doing? The current set up is upside down style I know they stick down and can get hung up on stuff. Im not super worried about that I mostly play in the mud and sand. My real question is it stronger one way or the other. I have broken center pins and bent stuff with the regular setup on past trucks. Thanks for any input on the setup

I can't see it making a huge difference... One major beef I have with the upsidedown u-bolts is that they collect debris around the base of the u-bolts where they pass through the axle plate and corrode like crazy. I actually had to replace the u-bolts on my old 96 because of that, thought they were going to snap they were so skinny.

Thanks for the heads up on the rust out mine are in very good shape now. Just thinkn if it was stronger to put the U blot around the spring or the regular way around the the axle tube.

I don't think they were used on these trucks for strength, I think it had more to do with frame clearance when flexing due to the narrow perch spacing on the c/k30. After installing the 1ton rear in my burb, I found that it is possible for the regular u bolts to make contact with the original bump-stop bracket that is riveted to the frame. Nothing a sawzall can't fix.
