Hey All,

I have u-bolts holding my front leaf springs together to keep them from going side to side. The passenger side bolt is snapped and I want to find a suitable replacement. Should I stick with u-bolts or go with something else? Also where would I find what you would recommend?

Thanks!

Junk yard:dunno: maybe somewhere that does springs:dunno:

I also agree with the junk yard. Or maybe try a hardware store that deal in fasteners to see if you can find a square u bolt that will fit around the spring. Then cut yourself some flat stock to go over the top drill some holes and bolt it back together.

years ago I had a leaf spring break and I used 2 pieces of flat stock to sandwich the spring and just drilled holes for bolts so that I could limp it home.

something like that would work...

My buddy who has a bronco said he read on a ferd forum that you could get one of those u bolts and weld it to the overload, and it would keep the springs in but not limit flex. Yeah, doesn't apply to the front, but just a thought.
My hardware store carries cheap square u bolts. Just try an ACTUAL hardware store, not big box.
