I just got me a set of springs for my truck. Front and rear 6". To save me some trouble at the parts store can anyone tell me the part number for u-bolts front and rear for my truck. Like I had said before the previous owner put 3" blocks all the way around. Thanks. An idea on what they may cost also. O by the way got the springs for a 6" system and the front springs and rear block and add a leaf for a 8" kit all for 200. I thought it was a deal?
79 k-10 by the way 10 bolts.
 
I couldnt find any u bolts at a regular parts store. I got mine at a spring shop. They have everything and if they dont they can make it. I think I paid like 7-8 bucks for each u bolt with washers and nuts.

So find a local spring shop and you can get you some u bolts...
 
I guess in Cali you could get away with that but here in New England none of them are salvageable. I had to cut all of mine off.

They sell ToughCountry bolts - zinc coated grade 8, ive gotten several sets from them. Just order for the axle (1/2ton or 3/4ton) and the spring/block combo.

btw: re-using U-bolts is a bad idea, they are torque to yield, so you can only tighten them 1 time, then if you take them off, they are trash. (150ft-lbs for 5/8" bolts) May be expensive, but its safe.

EDIT: since you're in Georgia, go through Summit, any brand they stock will do fine, and you should get them in 1 or 2 business days
 
i've always heard not to reuse u-bolts. i won't. imma order some soon just not sure where from
 
My trucks been in the shop an extra week because the auto store he gets parts from keeps bringing him the wrong rear shaft`s rear joint.
They brought the right rear shaft`s front u-joint , but cant find the rear for some reason....?? :dunno: He said the joint is bigger on one side than the other..?:what:
I think I`m going to have to go find the right u-joint Myself if I ever want my truck back... :eek1: :screwy:
 
call it what ever you want. its a u-joint that mates 2 different sized yolks.

IE 1330/1350 series joint is the most common that I could think of.
 
Why would I have one on mine? The t-case and 12bolt are original.
 
ok aside from the u bolts I now have the four springs. Of course the spring eyes are closer than on the truck because of not having wieght on the springs. Two of the springs have angled wedges on the bottom of the spring and the others do not. Also looks as if one end of a set of springs looks as if it takes a 3/8" bolt which would mean it is the rear side of the front spring. The other spring seems to have a larger bolt hole than the other end which also may mean that it is the front of the rear spring. Am I on the right track in my thinking here? Do I need to get grade 8 hardware or is grade 5 good enough? What is the going rate for a 6" lift steering arm. I looked at autozone.com and saw where they should be able to get me a ubolt kit for my truck for about 60 bucks. I would just like to be able to get my parts without driving an hour to get something or having to mail order stuff. I plan of getting rid of my sway bar as I did on my last truck. It already had a 4" lift. A friend of mine can lenghten my drive shafts if need be. I stopped by a truck accessories place today to find it is mostly cosmetic stuff but the guy can get me a steering arm but his price sems high.
 
Mine was for a 4 inch lift though, for 6 inches you may need a drop pitman arm also with the raised steering arm. Summit has those too.
