Does anyone make a u-joint (besides CTM) that is greasable thru all 4 caps? Would it be possible to drill and tap the caps of a spicer joint for grease fittings, or are they too hard? It would seem that this would be the best setup, as it would eliminate the cross drilling, and thus the weakness of a greasable joint.

in short the true non greaseables are longer lasting than greaseable.

the seals on a non keep stuff in and other stuff out.

the seals on a greasable let stuff out and its alot easyer for crap to get in.

but yes for true off road with lots of water i might run a greasable , but best be a premium joint.

these days you cant even get the grease gun head on the zerk to grease them. cause the yokes are in the way. so 90% of lube places dont even bother to grease them.

i see more bad greaseable joints than true non greaseable ones.

There is a fitting that you can buy at the local autozone or auto store that fits on the end of the grease gun. It is very small and pushes the ball in and allows you to grease the u-joint. I believe it was about $10.

FWIW, I believe the fittings you're talking about are called recessed grease fittings. I've been running them on my 84 for about 8 years, ever since I upgraded to Moog u-joints in the front end. They work fine......
