I have searched up and down and keep getting different answers. What size is the front drive shaft u joint to axle. Is it 1310, 1350, or something totally different. I am getting a 1350 yolk put on my Dana 60 and will need a conversion joint till I get a new front drive shaft. I have a 1350 ubolt style yolk on my 14 bolt and am about to order a Tom woods sye and drive shaft. I would like to run all 1350’s so I only need to carry one size. Thank you in advance

Is a 3r different than a 1310? It is a stock driveshaft. And can I get a 1350/3r conversion joint.

fyi the 1350 has LESS working angle than the 1310 / 3r joint size .

if you want real upgrade for flex and not near as maxed out check in to 1410 stuff .
So for my front I should go for 1410 joints because the angle is steeper from tcase to axle. I will have to call the drivetrain shop first thing today to have them order me a 1410 ubolt yoke instead of the 1350. Front will also have a detroit locker. I wish I could post pics I would love to share my progress with all of you that have been helping me.

I can’t find a 1410 to 1310 or 3r conversion joint. I don’t think they make it so I will stick with the 1350 yoke and when I get a new front driveshaft I’ll bump up to 1410

For point of reference, I used a 1310 joint on the front axle for years on a trail only rig. You will have to be really hard core to NEED more than that

You should be able to post pictures now. It's easiest to direct load them from the phone. All else fail, upgrade the membership, its worth it

All these trucks used a 1310 joint from the factory at the front pinion. As others have said, stick with a 1310 and if you want to upgrade go to a 1410.

Access to all forums and it will be the best $25 you spend on your vehicle. You get to post and host a;; your pictures in this forum.

I upgraded to 1410's all the way around on my rig... made life simple. carry 1 type of joint for trail side repairs....

but of course I never have had to do this since I upgraded. :waytogo:

Should I have stuck with 1310 in the rear?

The 1350 is stronger, but doesn't have the angular capacity as a 1310. The angles during suspension movement is usually less of a concern in the rear compared to the front.

I tried to do my research. I thought 1350 Would be a good choice. But I haven’t ordered my rear shaft and sye kit yet so there is still time to switch to 1410. I would just have to buy another yoke. I also wanted to run the same joint all the way around. So before I get to far ahead of myself what size are the ujoints in the Dana 60 axle shafts. My d60 and 14bff at from an 84’ k30. In case anyone wanted to know.

good info here....

https://www.crawlpedia.com/u_joints.htm

steering joints on the axles may be different depending on what axleshaft you have.. I run 4340's
CTM type with no needle bearings.. super strong

something else is gonna break before these do...

I also have a 3" driveshaft on the rear, and run a square tube driveshaft up front.
You'll hear a lot of opinions on square tube shafts, but if you can unlock hubs on the street or are a trail only rig, they have their place..

i purchased a k30 years ago that had the pinion twisted clean off the 60 front on the stock shaft / joint combo from new .

i unbolted the yoke and pinion guts . then swapped in another 60 i had ready to go and hooked the shaft up . ran that for 13 years and scrapped the truck . that shaft is in my good parts pile still .

the pinion size is the weak part to a dana 60 .

The shaft joints are different than the driveline joints
