got the 14bff in my k5 and having problems with the bastard joint to connect my stock 10b driveshaft with the 14bff. thought I got the right one (napa part #447) but I have a problem. The cap sizes are right but I don't believe it's wide enough for the yoke. When I put it in the yoke to mount it, it's got approx. 1/8 inch of play side to side in the yoke. I've never had play like this in one before and it kind of worries me. Is this ok? It seems to me that this slack would be a problem. is this normal? Any help or previous experiences would be appreciated.

That is the right part to go from S44 to 1350. Which yoke doesn't it fit? I don't think there should be any side to side play.

The U-Joint should measure 3.622" or about 3 5/8". If it doesn't, something is wrong there. If it does then that yoke must be something other than a 1350. I don't know what wider yokes would fit a 14 bolt.

yeah, it's 3 5/8 across. the 14bff is out of a 2wd 79 3/4 ton pickup. I don't think it's something rare or strange. I don't know what's up. do they make one that's 3 3/4 across?

Found the problem! the ear on one side of the yoke has been worn done so it's not as thick as the other one, hence the side to side play. You can kind of tell in the pics. Anybody got any ideas on how to fix?

Safest way would be to replace the yoke. Without a machine shop I don't think there would be any accurate way to rebuild the ears.

yeah. Damn! this is the last piece before my k5 is driveable. build up has taken me 6 months and i'm ready to drive! :doah:
