U-Joints bad?

I was working on my driveline vibration with some shim experiments.....it didn't help really so I started looking at the driveline.

If I could move each one "very slightly" this means they are shot, correct?

I assume so but wanted to confirm. :rolleyes:

Shouldn't' be able to move them.

You will notice bad joints taking off from a stop, or abruptly lifting from the go pedal under hard acceleration.
 
That's what I thought. I went by our driveline shop at lunch and they will put in two new spicer u-joints for $25/ea. Pretty sweet deal I think.....

Do I need to mark the orientation of the yokes at the axle before removing or does it not matter on the re-assembly if it's installed 180 degrees different from before?

No good reason not to mark and install as previously oriented. Necessary...probably not.
