hi guys new member here,

So i bought a 86 K5, stock with a 3 inch body lift, so i attempting to make a left turn and "snap" goes the driveshaft, well apparently it was the u joint that busted, okay but it also broke the yoke on the transfer case, so i went on ebay and bought a rear drive shaft and a yoke for $50 not bad, came with u joints, but apparently the wrong ones, or the drive shaft is not the same as in my truck, i apparently had inner c-clip style u joints in my truck the diveshaft came with, outer snap ring style.

My question , Is this the wrong drive shaft? the driveshaft u joints wont fit into the yoke on my differential ( stock 10 bolt 6 lug), i tried and give up cause it was'nt going in, the inner style u joint fit on my differential yoke but not on the driveshaft yoke, now the outer clip style u joints seem stronger and would rather use them but how hard is it to swap the rear diff yoke if at all possible?
:doah:
now the easy thing to do would be to use my old drive shaft but the previous owner had the smart idea to spot weld the u joints to the drive shaft and the TC yoke(ergo the breakage of the yoke), any advice on this situation would be appreciated,

Best to proceed at this point is to get under there and actually measure dimensions (cap diameters at all locations, size of the yoke at tc and diff, etc.). There are u-joints available to fit different mounting styles and sizes together, but to find those it's best to have actual numbers to start. 'Driveshaft and slip yoke from ebay' could be almost anything. I found NAPA's website to be helpful (they show dimensions for their u-joints).
