Trying to adjust my draglink so i regain steering to the right.

I'm currently trying to remove the bolt that connects the pitman arm on the steering box to the draglink.

Is this the right place to unbolt the draglink to turn the wheel and adjust the steering?

I know n00b, but MUCH APPRECIATED! :(

Stock steering or crossover steering?

If its the stock steering you simply loosen the two bolts on the clamp and use a pipe wrench to spin the adjuster to make the draglink longer.

If you have crossover with a bent draglink you will need to pull it out, adjust it and reinstall.

I posted on here before and i was told you unbolt the draglink, turn the wheel lock to lock then go back halfway and bolt the draglink back on...

Well, yeah... or set the tires straight ahead, then (with the key in so the column's not locked), adjust the draglink until the wheel is straight to match.

im not sure how the older truck sector shafts are... do they have any blinds or are they fully splined? the sector shaft on mine has blinds on it so that is fool proof, you dont need to go threw all the trouble of unseating and reseating the TREs of the draglink... just loosen the jam nuts and twist the dranglink in whatever direction you need to get it right... i got my truck to drive straight down the road with no hands on the wheel and my steering wheel is damn near perfectly straight

i'm so confused now, but i actually wanna start wrenching on my truck and fixing it myself.

Anyone wanna dumb this down for me? My truck is a '78 K10, 4" lift and stock steering w/ longer steering arm.

Point the wheels straight forward. Loosen the two clamps on the draglink and spin the adjuster on the draglink (with a pipe wrench) make the draglink longer until the steering wheel is straight, then retighten the clamps.

You will probably need to adjust it slightly after driving it (i.e. the steering wheel may not be perfectly straight the first time).

x2. Drive it after adjusting, it only takes a few seconds on straight, flat ground to know if the wheel is centered. Have the wrenches in the vehicle, and adjust on the side of the road until you get it right.
