Ugh. Leaky oil cooler lines.

If you're worried about the clamps, you can always cut the tube back with a tubing cutter and use a compression fitting to -AN style hose of some sort, whether that's braided or a push lock. Compression fittings are only a problem in brake systems with the high pressure 100psi is no big deal.

I was thinking the AN thing myself.
I have a couple sizes of hose left over, and all I'd need is the fittings

You just gambled the cost of a replacement engine using screw clamps v. Manufacturer's hydraulic crimping...

Yes, Gates rates the working or burst rate at 400 psi, but that's with their approved crimping devices.

Mercedes Benz used aircraft style clamps since the 80's on their vacuum+ low pressure fuel hoses....from personal experiences, the new world hoses are not the same quality from the OEM 1980 era ...the replacement hoses would further compress, harden and the clamps couldn't hold a seal very well. I spent too much time on the side of the road, always at inconvenient times tightening clamps, shortening hoses, or replacing loose sections of hose.

My fuel delivery failure is peanuts compared to running out of motor oil.

If you want to live with clamps, upgrade to fuel injection / aviation style clamps +. retorque the screws when you change the oil.
Any idea where to get good 18-20mm fuel injection style clamps? I can’t get anything locally that big and so far online I’m only finding Chinesium stuff on Amazon and eBay.

My local auto zone always has them, and oreilys sells a variety pack

Mine don’t have any big enough. These hoses are right at 20mm OD.

Online industry supply house?

McMaster Carr

Maybe use Gates Crimping Fittings

I did this on the original steel trans lines, when I still used the radiator cooler with external. worked well.

I used SS braided steel lines w/ AN fittings as fuel lines on Jeep fuel tank to body .. much nicer than OEM plastics junk fittings...Silver soldered fittings on factory steel lines.

Found 1/4" 1 strand hydraulic hose a Burdens Surplus Center, in Nebraska in long lengths at very fair money. Would make very interesting transmission or long fuel hoses.

Seen too many diesels replumbed from tank to engine with long rubber fuel line & SS clamps....not a great long term substition for hard steel lines ... Just a great start for vacuum leaks.
