Ugly truckling build

I'm going to have a set of 6 lug turbines for sale soon. Shipping would probably kill it though. I'm digging the k5 man!

I think I'm going to get the kit from 1AAuto, however it's out of stock at the moment...

Xenomarine, let me know on those turbines, I may be willing to pay the shipping if they're what I'm looking for (I loved the look on my old truck).

Been driving this thing a couple days, so far so good! Already looking at some suspension mods (2.5-3" lift / Shocks / New steering parts).

I also took a 3M eraser wheel to the stripes on the side, I think it's going to come off nicely. I'll be removing the pinstripes between the color change, as well as removing the plastic lower side molding.

FWIW, those slider side windows cause more leaks than they are worth. And, from what I've read on here, nobody makes a good seal kit for them that works, allows the windows to slide, and stops the leaks. You may be better off changing those over to solid windows if your goal is "water tight".

Thanks for the heads up, I'll watch out for that.

I got the truck up in the air to check out the suspension a little better, and my front driver side has both balljoints blown out. Rockauto order placed for a set of balljoints, headlight doors, and sidemarker lights.

I also just bought a set of Bilstein 5100's for a 2-3" lift, so I guess I have some more shopping to do...

Also make sure you replace your axle ujoints while its all blown apart as well as the spindle seal and bearings.

Yeah, that's the plan. All the same stuff I did with my K10 before I sold it.

Looks like it's a bit easier to go with the 2.5" over the 4" I had on the truck. Don't have to deal with the steering arm, or brake lines.

Right now I'm looking at Tough Country EZ ride 2" springs up front, with an ORD 2.5" shackle flip out back.

Is there any other brand?

Moog uppers and lowers for both sides. I still have the ball joint press tool and adjustment sleeve tool from the install on my K10. I'm guessing the D44 uses the same tools as the 10 Bolt?

Good job :waytogo:

And yes, same tools. BFH!!! :D

Seriously, that's how I installed my last set. Way more effective and quicker than fumbling with that giant c-clamp tool.

love those 90-91 bodies with the newish style mirrors. had a 90 GMC suburban with those. Power mirrors and vent windows. Shouldn't have sold her.

Well, my shock purchase fell through, so I'm pushing back the suspension plans.

I was able to spend some time removing the old tint, and trying to get my windows all working properly. The drivers side works great, but the passenger side seems to be binding up about half way up. White Lithium grease seemed to help, but it's still not right. I may need a new regulator on that side.

Silicone spray in the rubber window run channels works wonders. I thought I was gonna need new motors, sprayed some sili in there and they freakin fly up and down now. And that was a year ago, still working.

I have had good luck with napa premium ball joints. They are pricey but worth it in my opinion. The moog stuff is in need of replacement on my dmax, but dmax's are known for that.

Still having trouble with the passenger window, seems to bind up right where one of the regulator rollers changes direction.

Slow progress, ball joints on order. Got a little bling or the front end, not bad for $20 off rockauto. New headlight doors and side markers.

I would highly suggest adding a relay to the power windows. That solved all my problems on my old 90

That I can do.

Did you throw a relay in the door and run a dedicated 12v line to it? Do you happen to have a schematic for the stock power windows?

Thanks

Yes run a dedicated fused 12v line to each door, I think I stepped up in wire size as well. It's been awhile.

I have them and they Are on here somewhere. I think colbystevens posted them.

Found a good looking diagram (Credit to Lunatic) of the mod:
