Convertible conversion on your mind?
A full convertible truck was one of my shopping criteria before I decided to pickup this 1990. Since I've realize a swap isn't extremely tough, I'm going to have to go for it at some point.
Interior's pretty much stripped, gonna do a bit more cleanup and get some bedliner on the floor. That sound may under the front seats was a real PITA to get up. Good thing I did though, there was some trapped moisture, starting to rust underneath.

Looks like you caught your rust before it got bad.
If and when you cut the top off you may need to add some reinforcements under the floor to prevent body flex. The full verts had rocker boxes underneath.
You'll need the rotted doors for the aft window channels and upper aft support for your doors and use them as a pattern to cut your doors.

Those seats are the worst thing to happen to the floors on these trucks. Not enough surface area on the mounts to spread out the load. Which leads to cracks, rust, and eventual failure. Unless you really like the stock seats, look into an upgrade like this...

Yup, those seats are exactly what I have in mind for the truck, and also fall into the full convert conversion plan.

Picked up this Full Convertible top, doors, and windshield frame last night. Pretty good shape with a little rust, should be good to swap though.

Picking up these parts is a bit premature, but I figured I'd grab them now since I tracked some down.
I still want to pickup some 99-07 Silverado seats, and a cage before I do the top swap. The cage will include a brace under the doors to take care of body flex.

You could always replace the rocker panels with 2x3 rect. tubing.
I considered that, but the body on this thing is too clean to be hacking out rockers like that. I'll probably bolt some 2x4 rec tubing behind the rockers, and tie that into the forward and b-piller cage points.

As fun as that sounds, I don't know if I want to lean on you guys for it! I know for a fact my skills are limited to chopping stuff out with the sawzall, not so much on the welding it back together.
If there's interest, I'll volenteer it up for the thrash though! Last years bumper turned out great!

I would leave the thrashing to bumpers sliders etc. no need to rush that swap. I hopefully will have new power run to my shop mid summer. And maybe Adam and his crew can come over for a weekend end of summer. But the chop top would be something I would not rush.
