On july the 10th my t-case froze up on the freeway and threw my driveshaft, so i replaced the transfercase and just now started it back up with no rear shaft and the front unlocked... well the rear shaft on the np-241 was spinning while it was in gear with the brake on, and i put it in reverse and it spun the other way... but when i went to put it into park it grinded, i tried like twice and it grinded both times.... HELP what's this mean /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif i just spent thousands on this truck now i dont think i can afford a tranny. /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif /forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

there was no load on the yokes to stop them, they were still spinning when you tried park probably, happens to me all the time when in t-case neutral.

if i read that correctly, you had no driveshaft in, and you put it in gear, that means the tranny had nothing holding it from spinning usually the rear tires would keep the tranny from spinning inside. So when you went to put it in park everything was spinning, Just like putting it in park when you are driving down the road...

does that make any sense?god i suck at writing lol.

whew... i understand guys!!! thanks i'll try and stop the rear shaft from moving and try again.... Thanks i was all pissed at what could cost mega bucks

well i put vice-grips on the shaft and it just knocked them right off, so i think that it's fine, i dont have a drive shaft to test with yet, but thanks for the help guys /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Too save possible ware on the transmission, next time just shut the truck off and wait a few befor putting it back up in park. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

hey guys, what if i put it into 4WD, could i then hold the brakes and shift gears then put it back in park with out worrying about anything? as long as the hubs are locked?

its simple put the tranny into neutral and shut the truck off when it stops spinning put it in park, nuff said.
