Uhmw

anywhere from 0.030" - 0.060" is fine. I have the thinner stuff on my rear 52s... and the thicker stuff on my front 52s... both work great. If you run it the entire length of the leaf and drill a center-pin-hole... it won't work its way out of the pack.

I used the thinner the full length of my 52's with the center pin hole. The material has worked its way out at the ends of a couple leafs over time. It actually started to curve out then buckled. It took a perminent shape so had to cut that part off. I would recommend the .060"

weird... I've had mine in my rear leafs for at least 5 years now... not a single problem with anything 'working its way' out of anywhere. Hmmmm...

Most of my creep is on the front leafs. I have some on the rear leafs but no where near the creep on the front. Might be the way the clamps are located. I'd still do it again if/when I get new springs or tear them down again.

that begs the question, what kind of clamps do you have? My rear 52s (the ones with the thin UHMW) have the stock-on-a-k5 type that use bolts. There is a clamp on both ends (about half way between the center pin and spring eye) of each spring. I've never heard of anyone else having a problem with the stuff "walking" out on them. You have pics? Just wondering how big of a problem it is. If its a big deal, I might have to ammend my 52" spring swap writeup and only recommend the thick stuff..
