ultimate garage d60 front????

Aftermarket 4340 shafts with full circle clips 35 spline inner and outer, stock joints, drive flanges, stock knuckles. As for locker, anything that doesn't use the stock carrier.

The stock u-joints (1480 series) and knuckles are actually very strong stock. What tire size are you planning for?

dunno i tore mine apart.. put brute force ujoints in $30 each... a detroit and 4.56's in.. still works to this day!!!!

5000.00 and you want affordable upgrades!!! Just buy a dynatrac pro rock.

he said hes not looking to spend $5k;)

for me, assuming offroad only

35spline outers, maybe chromo's if you can afford it
flanges (hubs if street driven)
detroit (or welded if you want to cut costs and then get a detroit later)

oh haha, i missread that! Driv flanges, chromoly shafts detroit locker, and CTm joints (save you money in the long run).

With all due respect, I see your thread as an oxymoron.

The title is very misleading.

'The best affordable upgrades' is a very ambiguous term. However, this does make a much better title.

Are they really worth it??
I dont think there has ever been a reported breakage of those shafts. And If it did happen, I believe they are guaranteed for life

"ultimate" & less than $5K do not belong together. Pick one or the other.

its $1850 for a complete setup. you can spend $1100 on chromo shafts and CTM's from ORD. the longfield setup will turn better and is rebuildable. if you break something you replace it under the lifetime warranty. the bell and shafts are separate.

But for a 60 on a budget I would rebuild it, slap in the locker of your choice and wheel it. get upgraded shafts when you break a stock one.

in my mind they are worth it. they been through hell jumping at full wot and landing with my foot firmly planted on the gas with 44's i broke a drivesfaft but havnt had a problem with the axles

This is what I did...

I upgraded the inner shafts to the fat spicer OEM and the outer shafts to 35 spline spicers. That with new U-Joints were like $350. I bought Mile Marker hubs for $110.

I was able to get a super deal on an ox locker so that is the carrier I went with. If you found a detroit for 500-600 you would be into things for under $1000 but a majority of the money is in the locker.

That would be an affordable upgrade.

the price went down those were $2300 now $1800 thats worth it for those its a better design than u-joints anyway but not for a cheap axle just use the axle dont even rebuild it if it doesn't need it when it breaks fix it thats the cheapest way people use front 60s with 44's they break stock parts but there really cheap so who cares anyway one of the axle shfts,u-joint or the hubs will break before the carrier most of the time but if your gonna spend some money I would get a new carrier detroit would be a good choice

Rebuild the axle, bearings/kingpins if needed. Add gears of choice, weld the carrier, add crossover and hydro assist (the budget one for $200). Total invested? ???$900ish??? Use the remainder of your money to buy two sets of inners/outers/ujoints and another set of hubs and possibly upgrade the tierod. Total excluding axle purchase 11-1200ish probably a whole lot cheaper if you buy parts from guys on here that upgraded to 35 spline stuff.
